The Day of Valor (Tagalog: Araw ng Kagitingan)
is a national observance in the Philippines. Araw ng Kagitingan commemorates
the fall of Bataan to Japanese troops during World War II. Day of Valor fall
every April 9 but in 2009, the celebration moved to April 6 due to coinciding
with Maundy Thirsday.
Araw
ng Kagitingan marks the greatness of Filipino fighters during World War II. It
is marked on or around April 9 in the Philippines each year. The start of the
Fall of Bataan is when the Japanese renewed their offensive on April 3, 1942
with fresh troops. The American survivors of the Bataan Peninsula were so
weakened cause by the disease and starvation. In April 9, 1942 to April 17,
1942, the Bataan Death March started. It is the forcible transfer by the Imperial
Japanese Army of many American and Filipino prisoners of war, this is the time
were the prisoners was forced to march until they die.
The Day of Valor is the day that marks the greatness of Filipino fighters during World War II. We should not forget the sacrifices of our soldiers during World War II. It is important to celebrate the day where the Fall of Bataan started because it is our way to show respect to the soldiers.

I have to agree with your statements that the Fall of Bataan as well as the Araw ng Kagitingan must be remembered and be taken seriously, for it shows respect and appreciation towards the soldiers who have died protecting our country and for those veterans who made it out the war.
